The Ithaa Undersea Restaurant, located at Conrad Maldives, Rangali Island, Maldives, is renowned for being the world’s first undersea restaurant. The name Ithaa means “Mother of Pearl” in Dhivehi, the language of the Maldives.
The restaurant is situated five meters below the ocean surface, encased in a transparent acrylic structure that offers a stunning 270° view of the underwater world. The space is relatively small, accommodating up to 14 people, making the dining experience uniquely intimate.
Ithaa Undersea Restaurant offers a fixed menu for lunch and dinner, featuring a fusion of local Maldivian flavors and Western influences. Diners can pair their meals with a curated selection of fine wines. While the prices are high, the dining experience is truly out of this world.
“Dining at Ithaa is not just about the food; it’s an immersive experience that connects you with the ocean in a way that’s hard to describe,” says culinary expert Chef Pierre Gagnaire. “The fusion of flavors and the underwater ambiance create a dining experience unlike any other.”
Marine biologist Dr. Sarah Daniels adds, “Ithaa provides a unique opportunity for guests to observe marine life up close, enhancing their appreciation for the ocean’s beauty and diversity.”
The Ithaa Undersea Restaurant offers more than just a meal; it offers an unforgettable journey into the depths of the ocean.
