The Haiku Stairs also known as the stairway to heaven, is a series of 3,922 steps that lead up to the summit of Peukeahiakahoe mountain, on the Hawaiian island of Oahu.

It was originally built in 1942 to serve as a radio transmission tower during world war II

The stairs were closed to the public in 1987 due to safety concerns. Despite its closure, some thrill seekers still venture into the place and risk penalties or arrests.

The Haiku Stairs is not for the faint of heart, it’s a steep, strenuous climb that requires a good level of fitness.

The climb takes 2 to 3 Hours. Even though it’s hard to climb, the view from the top is worth it. On the summit, you can see panoramic views of the island of Oahu, including the lush green valley of Haiku, the sparkling waters of Kaneohe bay, and the peaks of Koolau mountain.
