The Ark of Bukhara is a historic citadel located in Bukhara, Uzbekistan. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most important architectural complexes in Central Asia. The Ark was built in the 5th century as a fortress to protect the city from invaders. Over the centuries, the complex has served as a prison, a palace, and a military barracks.

Visitors can explore the citadel’s many courtyards, gardens, and chambers. They can also climb to the top of the Kalyan Minaret, which offers panoramic views of the city.

“The Ark of Bukhara is not just a fortress; it is a symbol of the city’s enduring history and cultural significance,” says Dr. Samira Karimova, a historian specializing in Central Asian architecture. “Its walls have witnessed the rise and fall of empires, making it a living testament to the rich heritage of the region.”
