The Interlace in Singapore is one of the most iconic residential developments in the world — and for good reason. Instead of traditional vertical towers, this striking complex looks like a series of stacked blocks, forming a geometric puzzle of interconnected courtyards, gardens, and open spaces.
Designed by OMA and Ole Scheeren, The Interlace was completed in 2013 and features 31 six-story blocks arranged in a hexagonal pattern. Each block is positioned at different angles, creating an intricate design that feels both futuristic and human-centered.
The layout allows for natural light, cross-ventilation, and lush greenery to flow through the structure — a major step toward sustainable urban living in Singapore’s tropical climate. Between the blocks are swimming pools, gardens, and recreation areas, giving residents the feeling of living inside a vertical village rather than a typical apartment building.
More than just architecture, The Interlace represents a shift in how cities think about community and space — blending innovation, nature, and design to create homes that feel connected to both people and the environment.
